The Batavia Business and Professional Women's
Club strives to be a resource to the community through dedicated
service by working for the enrichment of our fellow women. Through
the years the club has promoted business, professional and social
contacts, as well as the spirit of community service, to women of
our area.
The Batavia Business and Professional Women's
Club meet the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM from September
through June. It is up to the monthly committee to pick where we
meet, the dinner for the evening and who the speaker/entertainment
will be. Please refer to our newsletter section for a listing of
upcoming meetings and who to call for reservations. This information
is also provided in the Daily News, the Pennysaver and also on cable
TV.
Women employed in business or professional occupations
shall be eligible for membership in the organization. Membership
dues are $20 per year payable in September. For first time members
dues are $10 for the first year's membership.
Our accomplishments include a scholarship program.
Currently we give two $200 scholarships to graduating seniors from
BOCES, four $750 scholarships to graduating seniors from local high
schools and one $500 adult scholarship for a female returning to
Genesee Community College. Also each month from September through
June, an evening is spent at the Genesee County Nursing Home to
provide BINGO and prizes to the residents. This year we were able
to purchase new BINGO cards for this purpose. Contributions to some
area charitable organizations are also provided and the club also
makes available food, clothing and gifts for families less fortunate
than most at Christmas time.
